When it’s all said and done, will you have said more than you’ve done?

Talk is cheap. Everybody’s got a mouth. And we all use it to talk about all the things we want to do. It’s so cheap though because we’ve seen many things spoken into failure. You know the big talker that just keeps yapping about all his fancy ideas but never takes action.

These people speak things not into existence, but rather into failure. They get caught up in the glamour of speaking big but never acting on it. The sad thing is, we’re all that person sometimes. We speak but don’t do. And if we tally it all up, in the end we’ll have said more than we actually have done.

Don’t be that person. Will you have said more than you have done? Because for me it’s simple…

I will surely not have said more than I have done. And here’s why…

I hate speaking about things that I plan on doing. I’m a super private person that loves to make moves in silence. There’s no point in getting praise and accolades for things we’ve yet to do. So unless I need someone to hold me accountable for a goal, I don’t speak on it.

This is such a great strategy. It forces me to take action early and consistently. I have to think about what I want to do, and then immediately start doing. For example, answering these questions… Instead of telling the world I was trying to answer a question a day for a year, I just started writing.

It’s never an easy thing to do. But it’s easily one of the best habits to develop. Nobody can call you the big dreamer that doesn’t follow through. Nobody can say you’re all talk. If anything, they can only say the opposite. That girl right there, she’s all action. You won’t know all the great things she’s going to accomplish until she’s actually done it.

When you think of many wildly successful people in the world, they have the same characteristics. People like Jeff Bezos, could care less about the gossip here and there about his online bookstore, he just works. People like Mark Zuckerberg isn’t focused on the day to day glory he gets for building a social network, he just puts in the hours of work. The most successful people are naturally the greatest executors.

It goes for anything in life honestly. Thinking and planning is vital. But sitting around chatting about novel ideas for hours a day, brings you no real success. The person who has the killer body you dream of, doesn’t spend hours talking about lifting weights. He or she is actually in the gym working out day to day. The results will speak for themselves.

That’s how I approach my goals in life. Less talking and more doing. I believe that will be one of my keys to success. I hope to never look back and have said more than I have done. I could sit and talk about it all day. But I can show you better than I can tell you.

Just watch and see.
