Stories are the medium of true connections. As humans, nothing is easier to understand than a vivid and detailed story. Facts and statistics are built on the foundation of logic. But stories are built on the foundation of emotions. And all people are hardwired to feel things deeply in their heart. Stories are simply the way we share those feelings with others.
But not all stories are the same. You might tell a story at a bar hanging with friends and it just falls flat. Then you might tell a different story and those friends come to life and are energized. Great storytellers know that there’s so many technicalities in being an amazing storyteller. But at the end of the day, none of that will save you if you don’t have a solid story to tell. So what’s your favorite true story that you enjoy sharing with others?
Here’s a quick explanation of my favorite true story that I enjoy sharing with others.
It was the end of my senior school year and there was a week left of classes. But that means lots of different events and senior activities shit daily. One of the events my best friend Enkose dragged me out to was the “Senior’s night.” It was just a big empty cafeteria with all the seniors just listening to music, hanging out, and talking. The story I love sharing is how I met one of my best female friends to this day, Deasia.
I saw her from across the room and was instantly intrigued. She had a look that made me think she could be someone I’d get along with. Since it was the last time I would see a lot of these people I decided to go up and strike a conversation. I tapped her on the shoulder and said hey. She slowly turned her head and looked at me crazy. Then I proceeded to tell her how I thought she was pretty and wanted to get to know her.
She didn’t say a word the whole time. It was just this awkward but intense death stare like, “Why is this guy bothering me?!” So I quickly ended by asking if I could get her number. Ten seconds go by then without saying anything she grabs a pen writes down her number and turns back around to her friends. I was shocked. It was the driest reaction I’d ever gotten from a girl. But later that night when I was bored I decided to message her. We ended up clicking and having an hours long convo. The rest is history.
Glad I found out your cold hearted exterior just protects the true warm and caring Deasia inside. 🙂
