We’ve only got a few decades to live. We’ve only got a few years to live. We’ve only got a handful of months to live. And we’ve only got a few thousand days to live. But even though we have such limited time, there’s still so much to do. There’s a million and one things we want to see, smell, hear, and taste. And given the most optimistic human lifespans, we’ll never get to do them all. That’s just a sad reality of life.
But some things hold more importance on our list of “to do’s” than others. It’s nice to travel to one hundred different countries or meet all your favorite celebrities in person. But those are mostly things we want to do. The things we want to accomplish are a whole different level. The list of accomplishments are high priority and not filled with a host of pointless objectives. Nonetheless, we may not get the chance to catch them all. So we should be selective and start at the top. What is the number one thing you want to accomplish before you die?
Here’s the number one thing I want to accomplish before I die and my thoughts on it.
There’s a million and one things on my list of things to accomplish. It’s not because I’m some sort of psychopath. It’s not because I’m just a highly unrealistic person that doesn’t know my own limits. Okay it might be a little bit of number two. But the main reason I have so many different things on my “to accomplish” list is because I’m just a go getter. Naturally, I’m a very ambitious person that loves the thrill of setting goals and knocking them down.
Not everyone can say they find true joy in writing out big lofty goals. Then taking those big goals and breaking them down into a bunch of baby steps. And then taking at least ten times longer than what you expected to get anywhere near those goals. And finally, after going through a major depression and contemplating quitting, hitting those goals with flying colors. Well, I can say with confidence that I enjoy that long and tedious journey.
So maybe I am a psychopath in some ways. But it really doesn’t help that I have a long list of goals that I’m always aspiring to accomplish. It makes things that much harder when I’m trying to decide on the one thing I’d like to accomplish in life before death. I want to become a millionaire. I want to build a highly successful nine figure business. I want to impact millions of people’s live’s positively. These are just a few of the many goals I have on my personal list.
But none of those are the main goal I’d truly want to accomplish in life. I really want to accomplish those goals. And I spend a lot of time working towards them every other day. But in the grand scheme of things, many of them won’t make a true difference to me. In the grand scope of things, there’s a goal that I would truly want to accomplish before death. It’s a goal I know is possible. It’s a goal that will impact my life positively. And it’s a goal that adds no value if accomplished when I’m dead.
The number one goal I want to accomplish before I die is finding true happiness that is genuine and sustainable. Many of my goals won’t change the price of rice once I reach a certain level of financial success. The goal that will truly make a difference is finding a level of true happiness. That will positively impact my quality of life. It will give me true peace of mind. And finding sustainable happiness will let me be indifferent to the fads of the world.
I won’t need to be a multimillionaire to be important. I won’t need to be famous to feel a sense of belonging. I won’t need to be working non-stop to find my sense of purpose. If I find true and sustainable happiness. I can live a simple and honest life. That’s a goal for the books. It’s something I really want to accomplish. And something I hope to accomplish alive rather than dead. What do you want to accomplish before the end of life?
