The little things count in life. That’s just something we’ve come to know. There are so many little things in life that make a big difference. Like an afternoon spent alone reading. Or a fresh cup of coffee in the morning. Or even the latest meme circulating on social media.
But the big things matter too. Throwing an extravagant party for your 21st birthday in Vegas. Traveling outside the country for vacation every year. Or the newest season of Game of Thrones or Stranger Things. Those matter too.
But we all find joy in different ways, from different things, whether big or small. What does your joy look like today?
Because my joy can be spread from small things and big things. Family retreats and newborn nephews bring me joy. But so does a fun game of fortnite or reading a Quora post. Different things bring me joy at different times. But today, there’s one thing that’s been consistently bringing me joy.
I love to learn new things.
When I find a new subject I like I do a complete deep dive. I read books. I watch videos. I ask other people. That subject becomes the focus of my attention for days at a time. And while I spend hours reading and watching, I transform into my ultimate form…
I soak up all the knowledge I can. Whether it’s real estate investing, open relationships, or the keto diet, there’s always something new taking up time and fascinating my mind. And I love every second of it.
It makes me happy finding new things to learn. It’s enjoyable undesrstanding different aspects of how things work. Then apply new skills and knowledge to my life. Then slowly becoming an expert on a subject. Because then I can share that knowledge to other people. Who can then teach me something I didn’t know. And the cycle continues.
And the best part of getting joy from learning new things… is not being a know it all, but rather that there’s an unlimited amount of things to learn in the world. I’m always one book, one youtube video, one blog post, from an exciting and joyful day.
