Do what you love and love what you do. We’ve all heard it a million times before. It’s torture to surrender your whole life to working on something you don’t like. If you enjoy what you do then, you’ll always be happy and ready to do it. These are one of those lessons we often learn the hard way. We get so caught up in life and decide that we need to just do something. We need to get up and find a way to keep food on our tables. And that’s a fair angle. We all have responsibilities.
The thing that kills it all is when we don’t find any time to do what we love. Maybe you have to work a dead end job to make ends meet today. That’s fine. But you can still find the time to do what you enjoy every now and then. That’s the way to approach it. Don’t let your passions sit on the backburner because they like everything else in life can fizzle out. So always do what you love even if that means it’s on your own time. You just have to know what that is. So what do you love to do?
Here’s a short story on what I love to do.
When I got into a relationship for the first time, I knew it wasn’t going to be perfect. But after years of being with someone I realized that it was much harder than expected. I had my own problems with my ego and communication skills. She had her problems with being highly emotional and unreasonable at times. We struggled through a lot of unexpected bumps. Her family wasn’t quick to open up to me. And my family let her in too quickly. We were going through the ringer of being in love at a young age.
But through those crazy moments and challenges, I rose to the occasion. Instead of jumping ship and looking for new love, I looked for new ways to grow. I read articles on her personality type and their quirks. I read books on growth in relationships and how to rekindle love. I put different challenges and goals on our agenda to bring us closer. And she did her part as well. We weren’t perfect but we were always getting better. It didn’t work out the way I wanted it to but I still enjoyed finding ways to make us better. I love finding ways to make things better. That’s what I love to do.
And although things didn’t end up the way we wanted, Deasia… I know we’ve become better people through it all.
